Internet lore states that vodka jelly was invented by American singer-songwriter Tom Lehrer during Christmas 1955.
I’m very pleased to have been contacted by Vodka Jelly Shots (www.vodkajellyshots.co.uk) to help them develop a new type of vodka jelly shot! This brought me back to my student days, when the perfect vodka jelly shot was simply the one with the highest volume/ratio of vodka to jelly… but now I’m a grown-up, so my priorities are a bit different.
You may well be unaware, but a vodka jelly shot is made out of meat. Or to be more specific the gelatin in the jelly is made out of meat, or to even more specific the vodka jelly shot contain gelatin that is made out of boiled up animal remnants (bones, skin etc). So the standard jelly shot recipe such as the one found on the Bar Brothers is not suitable for vegetarians.
